However, the show at the Avalon a few weeks back was also billed as 18+ and I got into that (They asked "Drinking?" I said "No." They said "g'head")... It's not in the setlist file..] Sorry for the minimal GSW content. (still, it beats endless discussion on swastikas and snotty day camps :D) peace, Laura -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everybody! Okay, I am FINALLY getting around to doing this tree. I'll try to make it the least confusing as possible, if you have any questions, feel free to write me. It will be of the Blues Traveler Horde sets at Great Woods, Mansfield MA 8/12/95; SPAC, Saratoga NY 8/13/95; and River's Edge, Sommerset WI 8/22/95. And the God Street Wine SPAC set, which fits almost entirely on the extra 8/13 room, with Into the Sea on 8/12. All my tapes are (analog) aud/1s, the WI and NY sounding a little better than the MA, in my opinion, but all are certainly listenable but not soundboard quality of course. Here are the setlists: Great Woods A: Love and Greed, NY Prophesies, Go Outside and Drive --> Low Rider --> GOAD --> Runaround, Alone (cut) [for jerry] B: (cut) Alone, Come Together, What's 4 Breakfast --> Jabberwocky --> Crystal Flame Filler: GSW 8/13 Into the Sea; 9/?/95 (Saratoga Winners) Nightingale, Thirsty SPAC A: Crashburn, Mulling it Over, Hook, Should I Stay or Should I Go --> Runaround --> Manhattan Bridge --> Sweet Pain B: Brother John, Price to Pay, Love and Greed Filler: GSW 8/13 (cut) Stone House, When She Go, Imogene, Hellfire, Into the Sea (cut) [btw, Stone House, was the first song of the set] River's Edge A: But Anyway, Crashburn --> Hook, Mulling it Over, Miss You (with Chris Robinson of Black Crowes), Mountains Win Again, Low Rider --> Runaround B: Stand, Mountain Cry (with Todd Wolfe of Sheryl Crow's band) Filler: Ziggy Marley set from that day. Don't know the titles, but he played the same set each show anyway.. If you're not familiar with GSW, you must sign up and get a taste of one of the happiest bands around, you'll thank me for it. They fit on 3 90's, please use Maxell XLII or XLIIS no noise reduction. What I'm going to do is ask that the branches get all 3 tapes from me, then let their leaves choose which shows they want. And depending on the response, I might just make a SPAC only section or something..so if you just want the one show you were at, that's fine. If you don't know what a tree is, basically I make a bunch of tapes for a bunch of people who then go and each make more tapes for more people and soon we all have more good tunes to play on the stereo. For example: Me, the tree mother Ernie Elmo Cookie Monster Big Bird Bert I make tapes for Ernie and Bert, and Ernie makes tapes for Elmo, etc. Elmo etc. who don't make tapes for anyone are "leaves," if you've never been on a tree or don't have good equipment, sign up as a leaf. Ernie and Bert will either trade with me to get these tapes or else send me blanks and postage. Your branch will decide what he/she'd like you to send, and will be more than happy to take blanks from you if you don't have any tapes. (Newbies! This is how to get yourselves tapes!) I'm pretty stinkin busy this semester, so will make no promises for when the structure will be out, hopefully within the next 2 weeks. Sign-ups will end, oh, next Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 pm, and I'll TRY to finish it that weekend. Important: to sign up, send your requests to me at ***M19EDUC22501@hope.edu*** NOT ml176698, if you have questions you can send them to the latter, but to sign up, please send it to the m19..thanks. If you want to be a branch, put in the subject line: BRANCH (your state) (the shows you want) EX: BRANCH Michigan MA & NY & WI (or "WI only" or something) If you want to be a leaf, do the same thing: LEAF (state) (shows) Cut and paste this next section, send it to m19.., with the appropriate subject line within the next week. If you don't follow directions exactly, I won't shoot you like others might, just try and do it right. --------------------------------------------------------------- Your Name, E-mail Address: Your City, State: Which of the 3 shows you're interested in: Preference Leaf/Branch: If branch, how many total tapes are you willing to make?: If branch, describe your decks: The meaning of life is... Well, you would be correct. :) Another little option which can help keep your padded mailer bills down (and damn do I have a lot of them that I just threw out) another option is to either send the tapes in a big manilla envelope that contains your padded mailer that is SASE correctly for the return of the tapes, or you can get a SASE big manila envelope and squish it inside the padded one. It makes packing a little easier and cuts down on the number of padded envelopes that tend to accumulate at people's houses, apartments and dorms. -- budke@netspace.org 88 Shelter Rock Rd V:(203)322-4428 Stamford CT 06903 Fax:(203)461-9458 Work:(914)448-1524 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ========================================================================= Date: Sat, 28 Oct 1995 13:00:21 CDT Reply-To: Annie Pulis Sender: God Street Wine List From: Annie Pulis Subject: Halloween costumes for GSW Hmmmmm.....costumes for the band (BTW, I believe they are playing SLC that night). It was PHAT! Well, I don't want to get carried away- I've definitely seen better shows. But the first set was indeed one to behold- it had so many sweet songs, and was so long, that by the third to last song in the set, my friend and I were convinced that the show was gonna be a one-setter. How wrong we were! They took a break, came back on at 10:30, told the crowd that they were booked to play two one- hour long sets, and even though DU told them they fucked up and could only play till eleven, God Street said "hell, let 'em pull the plug on us, 'cause we're here to play!" And play they did. By the way, they opened up with the most intense version of Upside Down Inside Out I've ever encountered. J: It's a rainy night. It's February. It's cold. I go home. I curl up in my queen size bed with a snow leopard and a polar bear. No, it's not sexual. It's very, very pure. -Do you think you and Tomo could drink John Popper and Chan Kinchilla under a table? (with Popper buying) J: One doesn't drink to compete. Drinking is a purely individual pursuit. When you drink, the person standing next to you does not get drunk. I'm a bit drunk now, but that doesn't make you drunk. This is not answering the question though. I say no, Tom and I could not drink Popper and Chan under the table by a long shot. I also want to point out that both mine and Tom's mom read this list. Tom and I are responsible drinkers, as well as curteous and well behaved. -What color is your toothbrush? J: I have a few toothbrushes. I used to enjoy the Oral-B, until my dentist (the fine Dr. Post) told me that he preferred Butler. How can one argue with their dentist? I have toyed with the Radius, dabbled with the Colgate, and even gone has far as the water pick (but that doesn't travel well). But to answer your question - my current toothbrush is red. -What was the most damage you ever performed in a hotel room? Was it intended? J: Tom and I, in a fit of despair once destroyed just about everything in our hotel room. But when morning came we felt guilty, and tried to put it back together. -If you weren't in God Street Wine, what would you be doing with your life, career-wise? J: I'd pop those bubbles you get when you get something delicate in the mail. -Could Gamara win a fight against Godzilla? Or would Godzilla kick Gamara's turtle-ass? J: I don't know alot about those two, but I still see turtles, and I've never seen a dinosaur. -What's YOUR gimick? J: Be patient, I'm still waiting to be more successful, so I can make alot of money with it. -If you could write your very own Kids In the Hall sketch, what would it be about? J: I don't know much about Kids in the Hall, but if I could write a Saved By The Bell Sketch, I would make Zack and A.C. Slater be caught by Mr. Belding with a bottle of Wild Turkey and Kelly Kapowski in an uncompromising position. -You're the five-thousandth customer in a supermarket, you are awarded a $5000 shopping spree, which aisle do you run to first? What's your shopping itinerary for the next 2 hours? J: Oreos. -What's the best term paper you have ever written for your own needs? For someone else's needs? J: It wasn't a term paper, but I wrote about why the seatbelt law was immoral - and I got out of a ticket (but please wear your seatbelts anyway). I would never write a paper for someone else - it's dishonest. -Some weird comparisons; Pick one, tell why.- J: OJ and innocence (oops, I probably shouldn't say that). -Snorks or Smurfs? J: What the hell is a Snork? *(lynn here- please note, a 'Snork' is the underwater, and less successful cartoon version of a 'Smurf'. their hats were used to breath air and such... in my opinion, this show had better storylines and soundeffects, but was unfortunately cancelled.)* :( -Twizlers or Shoe-lace licorice? J: Neither, I don't like long, sticky things. -Lima beans or Brussel sprouts? J: Oreo's. -Sesame Street or Barney? J: Mr. Rogers. -Hillary Clinton or Barbara Bush? (Keep in mind that Hillary's chocolate chip cookies are WAY tastier than Barbara's.) J: I do my best to stay away from politics. I think the first lady should be my mom. -Boxer's or Briefs? Is it the recording sessions of $1.99 romances - I'm guessing it is since Into the Sea, Imogene and Ballroom sound very similar to the CD versions. When was this recording made? Are any of the tracks from this session going to make it onto "Red", or is that going to be from a separate studio session? Thanks in advance for any help. By the way, Miss Leonardo is an excellent tune. I heard it played back in Summer '93, but haven't heard it since, and I don't remember seeing it on any recent set lists. Bring this song back!!!!!!! Parents get in contact with your children and children get in contact with your parents. Trade ground rules on how you want to get things done, addresses, max point preferences, etc. Parents (if it is feasible) should probably e-mail a list of shows that they have so children can figure out what they want. The way this should work is that children will send blank tapes to their parents (with return postage included!!). Parents will copy live shows for their children and send them back to them. As I noted before, children may want to hang on to this message so you can trade shows with other children to build your tape collections once you get your tapes back from your parents. I suppose I could go on at length here, but its all probably pretty clear. Children, if you have any questions, your parents would probably be happy to help you out. If there are any questions, problems, etc., e-mail me at Mikey568@aol.com. - Mikey ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 30 Oct 1995 01:48:07 -0500 Reply-To: Clendennen@AOL.COM Sender: God Street Wine List From: "Clendennen@aol.com Tom Clendennen" Subject: Re: mailing tapes Just my 2c, but a filled out return mailing label and the same postage inside as on the outside of a padded mailer is an easy way to go. Well, there was another drive problem at netspace, the spare drive that they have in there now has a much more limited capacity than the old one, and they were unable to copy over bunches of files from both the gsw and phish ftp directories without crashing the system. When the replacement drive comes in there, all of the files that were there about a week beforehand will be restored. I think this will be about a week away though. They each carry a little stamps which mark them as belonging to Geffen man. At the Red release show, the CD's will be set free on the populous, free of the evil grasps of Geffen man. Some of us were told about this earlier and have got the CD's to come to our houses to be domesticized and those at the release party will get their pick of the emancipated CD's that they can bring home. Remember to tell your CD that not all record companies are like Geffen man and his confining Kontrax formula, but he should always be on the lookout for other evils that are trying to control music for their personal gain.
